What is Drysol mild
Drysol mild is an antiperspirant that is commonly prescribed for the treatment of hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis is a condition where a person sweats excessively or unpredictably. Drysol mild can be prescribed for those with sensitive skin, but it is most often prescribed to those who already use Drysol. It is meant for use on the face, back and toe areas. Drysol mild is also prescribed as a maintenance treatment for those who use Drysol but need some protection from sweat more than once every twenty-four hours.
How Drysol Mild Works
Drysol mild is a mixture of aluminum chloride and anhydrous ethyl alcohol. Drysol mild is the same formula as regular Drysol, but in a lower concentration. The concentration of Drysol is 20% whereas the concentration of Drysol mild is 6.5%. Drysol mild essentially works by causing the sweat glands to close, eliminating perspiration. When applied, the aluminum penetrates the skin and causes the skin cells to swell, thus closing the sweat gland.
Applying Drysol Mild
Drysol mild is applied at night before you go to bed. It is a very simple process, all you have to do is dab the product onto your skin. Some people put the product directly on the area, while others use a cloth to do so. It is best to wear some sort of clothing over the area where you apply the product. This keeps the product from rubbing off over night. So if you are applying the product on your feet, it is advised to wear socks. The product is absorbed into the skin over night and washed off in the morning. If used regularly, Drysol mild only needs to be applied once a day. However, Drysol mild is often prescribed for those using regular Drysol to be used as maintenance during the day, if needed. This is due to Drysol mild's lower concentration of aluminum chloride.
Side Effects
The most common side effect of Drysol mild is a burning sensation when applied. Typically this burning goes away during the night. Some will have burning the next day, and may even develop a rash. Many people get used to the product after using it for several days, so if the itching is annoying but not painful, it might be worth it to stick with it for a few days.
Safety Information:
You should be cautious using Drysol mild if you have sensitive skin. Caution should certainly be taken if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. In either situation, it is certainly better to be safe than sorry. You should also remember that we do need to sweat sometimes, so stopping sweating entirely every day isn't ideal for anyone.
