Cerumol

Precautions

Cerumol contains peanut oil, and although there have been no reported allergic reactions to the product, persons who are allergic to peanuts should not use Cerumol, unless explicitly instructed otherwise by their treating physician. For external use only.

Supplied

Each mL of clear oily preparation contains: paradichlorobenzene PCB (1949) 2%, chlorbutol BP 5% and oil of turpentine BP 10%. Nonmedicinal ingredients: peanut oil. Bottles of 11 mL, packaged in sealed boxes and supplied with a dropper. The product must be used within six months following the insertion of the dropper. Store at room temperature (between 15 and 30°C).

Contraindications

Perforation of the eardrum, external otitis, seborrheic dermatitis or eczema affecting the external ear. Hypersensitivity to one of the components.

Indications

Loosening of cerumen in the external auditory canal.

Dosage

Lie down or tilt the head and use the dropper to put five drops into the ear canal. If needed, moisten a small cotton ball with Cerumol and cover the ear. This may be repeated twice to three times a day for three days. Unless the cerumen is abnormally hard, it should leak on its own. Consult your physician if the problem persists.
