Claritin D 12h General Information
Claritin D 12h is an over the counter allergy medication used to temporarily treat common allergy symptoms included, but not limited to, sneezing, watery eyes, sinus pressure, or stuffy nose. The two main ingredients are Loratadine and Pseudoephedrine sulfate.
How does Claritin D 12h work?
Claritin D 12h works by reducing the swelling in the nasal passages. It is an antihistamine, which works by preventing the effects of histamine. Histamine is what is produced by the body and causes the majority of allergy symptoms. It treats upper respiratory allergies.
When/How is Claritin D 12h taken/used/applied?
Claritin D 12h should be taken by mouth whole. The pills cannot be broken, crushed, or chewed. One pill should be taken every 12 hours, unless otherwise directed by a doctor.
Side Effects
The most common side effects with Claritin D 12h are coughing, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, headache, insomnia, nausea, and mild stomach upset. In some cases, mostly in children, excitability may occur.

You should not use Claritin D 12h if you are allergic to any of the ingredients, if you have high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, or narrow-angle glaucoma. You should not take it if you are taking an MAOI, or have within the past fourteen days. You should not take it if you have kidney problems. Those who are pregnant or breast feeding should contact their doctor before taking Claritin D 12h. It should not be combined with other antihistamines.
